Bill Pitts – Field Engineering Technician
Bill Pitts grew up in Platteville, Wisconsin, and earned his associate degree in industrial technology in 1979 from the Wisconsin School of Electronics (WSoE), now Herzing University. After graduation, he worked for Rockwell International under a contract with the Navy to repair radio equipment, and later for his father’s electrical contracting company.
Bill joined Amtelco in June 1981. After a brief training stint in the final assembly and test area of the production department, Bill supported the Video III, VCF 400, and Little Guy systems. He joined Amtelco’s installer rotation, and by 1983 he was on the road regularly, installing Amtelco’s new EVE (Electronic Video Exchange) system. Later, Bill moved to California but still worked for Amtelco, performing installs and service trips throughout the western United States.
After some time working for other companies in the late 1980s through the early 2000s, Bill returned to Amtelco in 2003 as an installer. He was able to support new product offerings from Amtelco, as well as legacy products for customers located in the American West. “It’s been a wonderful ride ever since then,” says Bill, whose years of dedication to Amtelco’s customers were rewarded in 2012 with the Customer Service Department Outstanding Service Award.
When not at work, you can find Bill volunteering for trail maintenance in California State Parks and enjoying mountain biking. He is looking forward to traveling more to Europe with his wife, Joyce.
