MD Anderson Case Study: Enabling Remote Workflows

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is the largest cancer treatment center in the United States and ranks number 1 in cancer care by U.S. News and World Report. The askMDAnderson service was established to provide answers, resources, and expertise to people with a cancer diagnosis, but when a pandemic was declared in March 2020, all non-direct patient care personnel were required to work remotely.

Amtelco Gets Its First Trex Bench

We recently concluded a six-month period of collecting eligible plastic bags, films, wraps, etc. for the Trex Company's Recycle Beyond the Bag program. We were shy of our 500 lb. goal, but thanks to a very generous donation of 300 lbs. from Bruce Voight and the McFarland Lions Club, we were able to exceed our goal and earn a Trex® bench made from the recycled materials! 

The McFarland Lions Club had far exceeded its plastic collection goal with help from the community and gave us the excess weight so we could get our bench! We have already begun collecting for the next six-month period, and we have a solid head start for our upcoming 500 lb. goal. This program is a great way to assist in ending plastic pollution and help our planet.

IS – Event Configuration

The Event Configuration page in Intelligent Series (IS) Supervisor is used to configure event notifications to be sent to e-mail addresses, Short Message Service (SMS) devices, miSecureMessages devices, the IS server log, and agent and supervisor stations.

IS – Message Keywords

The IS Supervisor’s Easy Script Editor includes the ability to mark messages with Message Keywords using the Save Keyword response element. Messages marked with Message Keywords can be searched by full or partial keywords in the IS Call Log in the IS Supervisor, miTeamWeb, Web Agent, and Soft Agent applications.

Employee Spotlight

Evan Winckler – Software Engineer

Amtelco hired Evan Winckler in August 2021 as a software engineer. Evan earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin and an Associate’s degree in Automated Manufacturing Systems and Technologies from Madison Area Technical College (MATC).

Currently, Evan is working on a post-call analytics project with Senior Software Engineer, Wayne Waldner. Evan says, “It’s a lot of fun working in a new and challenging language (Elixir). I’ve also been enjoying learning about new technologies and aspects of the development stack that I’ve not done before. However, I’m most excited to start working with artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze our call data.”

When not at work, you can be sure Evan is pursuing one of his many hobbies, which includes playing games such as disc golf, Kendama, Counter-Strike, and sim racing, playing guitar or drums, weight lifting, juggling, and hiking. As if he isn’t busy enough, he’s considering adopting a dog in the near future.

Three Random Things to Know About Evan
1. What is one of the things on your bucket list? To do rally car racing at least once, but preferably as a regular hobby.
2. What is your favorite sport and/or sports team? Disc golf, and my favorite player is Paul McBeth.
3. What is your favorite season? The one that doesn’t have snow.
