Employee Spotlight
Derra Victorine – Chief Financial Officer
Derra Victorine was hired in June 2021 as Amtelco’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) when the company’s long-serving CFO, Pam Hinz, announced she would be retiring at the end of 2021. Derra earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lakeland University and now oversees all of Amtelco’s accounting, human resources, and purchasing.
“I’m currently working on lots of HR projects to help our company attract talent, help our current team members grow, and make some current processes easier,” says Derra. “I’m so happy to be a part of a company that truly cares about you like you’re part of the family! My family is very important to me, so I’m proud to work for a company that also values family.”
Derra is an avid and adventurous traveler. She says, “I’ve been ziplining in Costa Rica, Riveria Maya, and Puerto Vallarta. In Costa Rica, I ziplined in the superman position and also upside down. It was beautiful to see the treetop canopies!” When Derra is keeping her feet on the ground in a new city, she loves to get lost in the architecture and says, “I’ll walk around for hours, just to stare at different buildings in awe of the creativity of engineers and artists. When I was in Wales, it was breathtaking to see castles still standing from over 300 or 400 years ago.”
Three Random Things to Know About Derra
1. What is your favorite sport and/or sports team? Of course I like the Packers and Badgers, but many don’t know that I’m also an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. I’m looking forward to when the Badgers and Crimson Tide play in 2024 and 2025!
2. What superpower would you choose if you had the chance to pick one? Teleportation! I don’t enjoy driving, and this would make travel much easier.
3. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? My dad once told me that the one thing in life you cannot make more of is time. Be sure you use your time here wisely, because you don’t know how much you have. I’ve made some important decisions in life based on this advice.
